On January 29 and February 3, AMWA participated in two meetings convened by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) to share the association’s views on the key water issues of concern for the U.S. and potential innovative solutions to those issues.  Stakeholders from water associations, NGOs, academia, municipalities and foundations participated in these conversations that will, in part, inform the White House Water Summit to take place in conjunction with the United Nations World Water Day on March 22.

As reported in the December 21, 2015 issue of Monday Morning Briefing, the purpose of the Water Summit is to raise public awareness of the nation’s water issues and inspire ideas and actions to help build a sustainable and secure water future through innovative practices and technology. The White House is inviting all stakeholders, including municipal utilities, to submit announcements of innovations and identify steps they are taking relevant to supporting a sustainable water future.  Submissions are being accepted via a webform until Sunday, February 14. The White House plans to incorporate many announcements into materials to be released on March 22 for the Water Summit.
