Both the House and Senate will break for the traditional August recess in the coming days, with many members returning to their districts and providing opportunities to meet with local utilities.

The House of Representatives is scheduled to recess on July 30 and the Senate is set to break one week later.  Lawmakers in both chambers are expected to get back to work in Washington on September 8, after Labor Day.

With many representatives and senators planning to spend time in their home districts during August, the month represents a good opportunity for water utility officials to schedule meetings, offer utility tours, and share policy objectives with members of Congress. AMWA recently circulated a set of water policy issue briefs that may be useful during these summer meetings.  If you did not receive a copy of these issue briefs, or if you have any questions, please contact AMWA’s Dan Hartnett at [email protected].
