EPA recently released a updated version of its Adaptation Strategies Guide for Water and Wastewater Utilities. Published by EPA’s Climate Ready Water Utilities initiative, the guide is intended to provide utilities with a basic understanding of how climate change can impact utility operations and missions. The 139-page guide also includes examples of various adaptation options to prepare for these impacts. The 2015 version contains much of the same content as the 2012 version, except national and regional climate change observations and projections have been updated based on information available from the U.S. Global Change Research Program’s National Climate Assessment released in 2014 and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The guide also contains adaptation examples from utilities, a worksheet for adaptation planning and a glossary of adaptation terms.
