
Utility Performance and Service AwardsThe AMWA Gold Awards for Exceptional Utility Performance and Platinum Awards for Utility Excellence recognize the large public drinking water systems that exhibit high levels of in the areas of product quality, customer satisfaction, employee and leadership development, operational optimization, financial viability, community sustainability, operational resiliency, infrastructure stability, stakeholder understanding and support, and water resource adequacy. These are the ten Attributes of Effectively Managed Utilities identified in 2007 by a blue ribbon panel of water and wastewater utility executives commissioned by EPA, AMWA and other water sector associations. Gold and Platinum Award winners also show achievement in the areas of leadership, strategic business planning, organizational approaches, measurement, and a continual improvement management framework.All AMWA member utilities that have never won a Gold Award are eligible to apply for the Gold Award for Exceptional Utility Performance. Three years after winning a Gold Award, member utilities are eligible to apply for the Platinum Award for Utility Excellence. Past winners of AMWA’s Platinum Award for Sustained Competitiveness Achievement are also eligible to apply. Any number of AMWA member agencies may be presented the Gold Award or the Platinum Award. Both programs are judged by distinguished panels of peer judges, and the awards are presented each year at AMWA's Annual Meeting in October. Gold Award Application Platinum Award Application Read about AMWA' s Gold and Platinum Award Winners: October 2007 - Gold and Platinum Awards SERVICE AWARDS The AMWA President's Award is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the improvement of water supply management. Eligibility for this award is limited to individuals currently or formerly representing AMWA member agencies, for their efforts and dedication in the field of drinking water supply. Individuals nominated for this Award must hold, or have held, a major position with a water supply agency, and in addition must have been active in AMWA. The AMWA Donald R. Boyd Award is established to acknowledge extraordinary personal service in the drinking water quality field. General criteria may include valuable service advancing public understanding and awareness, involvement in the Association's activities, water quality research or more general contributions deserving of recognition. This award would be to confer recognition on individuals outside the Association membership. The Award commemorates Donald R. Boyd, who was one of the founding members of AMWA and its president at the time of his death in August 1984. This award is presented where there is the need to recognize an individual's effort and dedication to the field. The recipient of the Donald R. Boyd Award is determined by the Nominations Committee, and the award is presented each fall. Nominations are solicited in the summer by the National Office. |
