FEMA has released 26 water sector-specific Job Titles/Position Qualifications and Resource Typing Definitions. These items help utilities identify assets and qualified personnel to deploy as part of emergency response efforts under the National Incident Management System. They also help utilities better identify their needs when creating mutual aid requests. The full descriptions of the new resource types can be viewed in the FEMA Resource Typing Library.

The American Water Works Association, which collaborated with FEMA on the new list, released a corresponding update to its Water Sector Resource Typing Guidance, which included both the 26 new qualifications and 10 additional resource types. These 10 categories will be considered for future inclusion in the FEMA Resource Typing Library.
