New Congressional Speakers Added to AMWA's 2025 Water Policy Conference Lineup

The AMWA 2025 Water Policy Conference (WPC), held April 7-9, 2025, during Water Week, in Washington, D.C., offers attendees an unparalleled opportunity to engage with federal policymakers and water sector executives while gaining valuable insights into legislative and regulatory priorities. Additionally, WPC registrants will have access to National Water Policy Fly-In speakers and events.

Elite Roster of Speakers

Throughout the conference, distinguished members from Congress, the Trump Administration, EPA, and other key agencies will share critical perspectives on pressing water issues. The prominent speakers include:

  • Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-Calif.);
  • Rep. Paul Tonko (D-N.Y.), Ranking Democrat, House Environmental Subcommittee;
  • Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.), House Ways and Means Committee;
  • Jennifer McLain, Director, Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water; EPA; and
  • David Travers, Director, Water Infrastructure and Cyber Resilience Division, EPA.

AMWA members will also have the opportunity to engage with the 2025 WPC keynote speaker, world-renowned journalist Bob Woodward, who will examine the political landscape shaping the post-2024 presidential election era. His investigative deep dives into the Trump Administration promises to offer a compelling lens into the current climate in Washington.

Third-Day Programming

In addition to Capitol Hill visits, where attendees can meet with their elected officials to discuss this year's policy priorities for the sector, there will also be an opportunity to participate in a threat briefing hosted by WaterISAC. During the briefing, Jennifer Lyn Walker, Cyber Defense Director for Infrastructure, will explain the latest cybersecurity threats facing the water sector and provide insights on how utilities can prepare to mitigate them.

According to the General Manager of Fairfax Water, Jamie Bain Hedges:

“AMWA meetings are a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and lessons learned with colleagues at other large utilities. The political and regulatory presentations and Q&A helped identify areas of mutual interest and concern where we can work together to pursue improved public policy and communications from regulators.”
