In a February 7 Federal Register (FR) notice, EPA, on behalf of the U.S. Global Change Research Program, requests public engagement on the development of an Interagency Special Report on the Impacts of Climate Change on Human Health. The lead agencies on the report will be the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute of Health, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and EPA. The report will be an “evidence-based quantitative assessment of observed and projected climate change impacts on human health” in the U.S.
The proposed scope has eight focus areas, including waterborne and foodborne diseases, extreme weather and climate change, and vulnerable regions and subpopulations to climate change health impacts. The FR notice seeks public comment on the draft report prospectus by March 31. It also requests nominations for contributing authors as well as for submissions of recent relevant research to inform the report.
