In response to concerns raised by AMWA in a January letter to the agency, EPA is in the process of updating its guidance and Q&A document on hexavalent chromium (Cr-VI). The goal of EPA’s updates is to provide additional information about laboratory methods and monitoring for Cr-VI as well as potential questions and answers that utilities could use to communicate with consumers about the contaminant.
AMWA worked with members of the regulatory committee to provide comments to EPA about the issue. EPA has not indicated a timeframe for updating its guidance to utilities.
