Noted political analyst Charlie Cook will open AMWA’s 2014 Water Policy Conference, scheduled for April 6-9 in Washington, D.C. Editor and publisher of the Cook Political Report and columnist for the National Journal, Cook is considered one of the nation’s leading authorities on American politics and U.S. elections. The New York Times has called Cook “one of the best political handicappers in the nation,” and his insights will be invaluable in this midterm election year, which has the potential to remake the look of Congress – influencing how legislators and the Administration regulate drinking water and address climate change, water system security, water quality and other key water sector issues in coming years.

Also on the program will be Senators and House members, who will discuss their plans to address water infrastructure funding, utility security, water resource sustainability and other Congressional agenda items. Policy leaders from EPA will be on hand to provide updates on priorities for 2014, including the latest directions on Lead and Copper Rule revisions, regulatory determinations, perchlorate and other highlights of the regulatory agenda. And, other senior federal agency officials will speak about the latest initiatives and research aimed at building water utility climate preparedness, security and resilience.

Mark your calendar and make plans to attend AMWA’s 2014 Water Policy Conference. Additional program information and online registration for the conference will be available later this month.
