A pre-publication version of the Fourth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR4) was released by EPA on December 9. The final rule, which will be in effect 30 days after publication in the Federal Register, will require monitoring of 10 cyanotoxins or cyanotoxin groups, two metals, eight pesticides or pesticide manufacturing byproducts, three brominated haloacetic acid disinfection byproduct groups, three alcohols and three semivolatile organic chemicals. Monitoring UCMR4 contaminants is scheduled to begin in January 2018.

As part of the notice, EPA also announced a one day public meeting and webinar to discuss the implementation of the UCMR4 to be held on April 12, 2017 in Washington, D.C.  Those interested in participating in the meeting can register and get additional information online.
