In conjunction with AMWA and other water groups, EPA will host Role of State and Local Workforce Boards, a webinar scheduled for September 24 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. ET. The webinar continues EPA’s Creating the Water Workforce of the Future series, which is designed to address the challenges of recruiting, training, and motivating a resilient and diverse workforce.

The National Association of Workforce Boards will present information about what workforce boards do across the country and will provide guidance on ways water utilities can connect to workforce board resources. The webinar will showcase how members of WorkForce Central, part of the Pierce County Workforce Development Council in Tacoma, Washington, worked with area water and wastewater utilities to develop training and apprenticeship programs.

Speakers will include Ron Painter, President and CEO, National Association of Workforce Boards; Katie Condit, CEO, WorkForce Central; and Nathaniel Lawver, Chair, Workforce Development Pipeline Committee, Tacoma/Pierce County EDB & LiUNA Local 252.
