EPA is hosting a webinar this afternoon, Monday, November 25, from 2:30 – 5:00 p.m. (EST) to receive feedback on its recent interpretation that fire hydrants are subject to the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act of 2011, which goes into effect in January 2014. AMWA members are encouraged to share information on the limited degree for which hydrants are used as a connection to provide drinking water and how EPA’s late interpretation will prohibit the clearance of expensive existing inventories of hydrants. The issues of concern with regard to EPA’s interpretation are reflected in joint water association letters submitted to EPA and Congress.
You can sign up for the EPA webinar via a link provided on AMWA’s homepage.
