EPA’s Science Advisory Board (SAB) will discuss recommendations for setting a Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) for perchlorate in drinking water during a teleconference scheduled for this Friday, March 29 (1:00 – 4:00 p.m. EST). During the call, the SAB Perchlorate Advisory Panel will discuss its latest draft report on approaches to setting an MCLG for perchlorate to the full, chartered SAB. The full SAB is tasked with conducting a quality review of the Advisory Panel’s report before it is finalized and submitted to the EPA Administrator. Based on the draft report findings, EPA is expected to revise the physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model it uses to derive the MCLG underpinning a perchlorate regulation, with the current goal of developing a proposed regulation by the end of 2013.

Notice of the SAB teleconference and the latest draft of the Advisory Panel’s report are available at the SAB perchlorate advisory panel webpage.
