A collaborative report developed under the auspices of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) provides a detailed look at the potential coastal impacts of climate change. The 230-page report, “Coastal Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerabilities: A Technical Input to the 2013 National Climate Assessment”provides the underpinnings to the coastal chapter of the recently released draft of the Third National Climate Assessment (NCA) Report. The NOAA/USGS report provides much greater detail than is found in the NCA report and could serve as a comprehensive resource for utilities making the case for more urgent action to address coastal climate change impacts.
