In his annual State of American Business Address in January, U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue highlighted the need for investing in water infrastructure. He outlined five immediate priorities the Chamber will address to boost America’s competitiveness in the global economy: producing American energy; rebuilding infrastructure; expanding trade, investment and tourism; advancing regulatory and legal reforms; and developing an innovation agenda.

As Congress and the Administration take steps to improve water infrastructure, the Chamber recommends: lifting the cap on private activity bonds for water infrastructure, strengthening the State Revolving Fund system, leveraging local and private investment through federal investment, and employing an efficient government model for improving water infrastructure.
