The capital investments, technological innovations, creative financing tools and cross-sector partnerships of America’s local water utilities were highlighted during 2015 Infrastructure Week.  AMWA supported a nationwide series of events during the week of May 11-15, organized by the Value of Water Coalition (VoW) to show that local water leaders are stepping up to the sector’s infrastructure challenges:

San Francisco – A San Francisco Public Utilities Commission event highlighted how investments in water infrastructure are investments in jobs and the community.

Philadelphia – A session on the state of water infrastructure and water resources featured the innovative investments being made by the Philadelphia Water Department and across the state.

Cleveland – The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District hosted a Follow the Flow Tour, a week-long series of behind-the-scenes tours of the region’s wastewater system, spotlighting the invaluable role water has played in shaping the region.

Chicago – A half-day forum brought policy makers, elected officials and thought leaders together to identify how Illinois can finance, build, maintain and deliver world-class infrastructure.

Minneapolis –A forum featured national and regional leaders discussing the opportunity for innovation to alleviate pressing water challenges, ensuring a sustainable water supply for every community.

On May 14, AMWA and other VoW members met with members of Congress and staff in Washington, D.C., as part of Infrastructure Advocacy Day.

In conjunction with Infrastructure Week, the VoW Coalition issued a briefing paper titled “The New Wave of Water Innovation,” found online at www.amwa.net/VoWInnovation.
