The EPA Water Security Division has developed a program that provides information, case studies and a framework utilities can use to develop a Water Quality Surveillance and Response System (SRS). An SRS can help improve a utility’s ability to monitor source water and distribution system water quality and to quickly detect and respond to any issues that arise. The resources are now available online, including a comprehensive list of products and programs the agency has developed to help utilities understand and design SRS. The document covers tools and guidance that are already available as well as ones upcoming with expected release dates.

Tools and guidance to be released in early 2018 include: Video Tutorials: Information Management Requirements Development Tool; Online Distribution System Water Quality Monitoring for Water Quality Surveillance and Response Systems; Guidance for Building Online Water Quality Monitoring Stations; Designing Customer Complaint Surveillance for Water Quality Surveillance and Response Systems; Video Tutorials: Threshold Analysis Tool & Alarm Estimation Tool.

Additional information and an introductory video is also available on EPA’s website.
