WaterISAC is hosting a new three-part series covering water system security and risk and resilience assessments under America's Water Infrastructure Act of 2018 (AWIA). This series complements WaterISAC's other AWIA series: "Conducting Cyber Risk Assessments under AWIA."

The first in the new series will cover the requirements of AWIA as they relate to risk and resilience. The second part of the series will begin looking at what's involved in a risk and resilience assessment using the American Water Works Association J100-13 Risk and Resilience Management of Water and Wastewater Systems standard. The third and final part of the series finishes the look at the risk and resilience assessment process using J100-13 with a focus on some examples of risk and resilience management.

PRESENTER
The webinars will be presented by John McLaughlin, P.E., a senior consultant with the firm Merrick & Company. John chairs the AWWA J100 standard committee and has been the technical lead on over three dozen vulnerability and risk assessments for water sector utilities over the last 17+ years.

REGISTRATION
The first webinar of the series is open to members and non-members; the second and third are open only staff of organizations that are WaterISAC members.  Not a member?  Visit www.waterisac.org/membership to join or sign up for a trial.

Register at www.waterisac.org/events. You must register for each webinar separately.

Webinar #1 – Water System Security Background and AWIA

Tuesday, August 27, 2019, 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET

The first webinar in this series of three will look briefly at the history of water system security and how it has evolved to cover all operational and management areas as well as risk, resilience and emergency response. We'll then cover the requirements of AWIA specific to the performance of risk and resilience assessment (RRAs).

Webinar #2 – Risk and Resilience Analysis and Management

Wednesday, September 11, 2019, 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET

The second webinar in this series looks specifically at the current water industry standard for RRAs, the J100-13 Risk and Resilience Management of Water and Wastewater Systems standard. This starts a step-by-step walk through of the process of performing a J100-13-based assessment that should facilitate compliance with AWIA. Examples and stories will help to highlight what is involved in each step.

Webinar #3 - Risk and Resilience Analysis and Management (cont.)

Wednesday, October 2, 2019, 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET

The third and final webinar in this series will complete the look at performing a RRA in compliance with AWIA. This will include discussion around the final steps of a J100-13 based assessment, plus some examples of typical risk and resilience management strategies and options.
