Lawmakers return to Washington this week with plans for the Senate to take up a long-stalled energy efficiency bill and legislation to extend dozens of business tax breaks. Possible amendments to the energy bill may include one from Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) that would establish a “Smart Water Resource Pilot Program” to offer grant funding for water utility demonstration projects that increase water and energy efficiency and promote water and energy conservation.

In the House, representatives plan to kick off the appropriations season by considering the FY15 spending bills for Military Construction/Veterans Affairs and the Legislative Branch.
