On November 21, 2025, a court granted EPA an extension to propose a Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) and National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR) for perchlorate. The extension changed the deadline from November 21, 2025, to January 2, 2026, due to the 43 day government shutdown.
