I want to share that the AMWA Board of Directors will be launching a national search for the association’s next Chief Executive Officer. Tom Dobbins, who has served as CEO since June 2022, will be shifting his focus to managing WaterISAC beginning July 1, 2026.

Over the past four years, AMWA has navigated a significant transition following a long‑tenured leadership era and the operational challenges that followed the pandemic. During this time, Tom worked with the Board and staff to stabilize the organization, strengthen internal operations, and position AMWA for its next phase of growth. The association now benefits from a strong and capable staff, improved member engagement, and renewed momentum across programs and events.

As AMWA marks its 45th anniversary and begins the road to 50, the Board believes this is an appropriate time to identify a new CEO who can guide the association into its next chapter. AMWA is a premier drinking water association in the water sector, and we expect the CEO position will attract a strong and competitive field of candidates.

The Board will soon begin the process of selecting a search firm to support this work. Throughout the transition, AMWA’s staff will continue to advance the association’s mission and serve our members with the professionalism and commitment they bring every day.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to thank Tom for his service and partnership. We wish him continued success in his work with WaterISAC and appreciate his support during this transition period.

Jeff Szabo, President, AMWA Board of Directors
