WPC day1
A Board of Directors meeting opened the 2024 Water Policy Conference, followed by a delightful networking lunch. In the afternoon, CBS Evening News Anchor Norah O’Donnell took the main stage to delve into the political landscape for the remainder of  2024. Following the keynote address, EPA Acting Assistant Administrator for Water Bruno Pigott detailed the Administration's water agenda. The day concluded with two thought-provoking panel discussions on climate change action and lead service line replacements.

 

 

WPC day2
The second day showcased policymakers' perspectives on their 2024 drinking water agendas. HHS speakers provided insights on how the agency will roll out the LIHWAP, and EPA’s Jennifer McLain detailed her agency’s regulatory agenda. Dr. Allan Lichtman offered insights into the 2024 Presidential election, followed by a presentation from Banner Communications on engaging lawmakers. AMWA CEO Tom Dobbins led an interactive discussion on lessons learned to close out the regular program. 

 

 

WPC day3
The conference concluded on Thursday with member utility visits to Congress or participation in two roundtable discussions on Environmental Justice hosted by AMWA member utility DC Water. The interactive sessions explored the integration of environmental equity and justice into water utility planning and management using examples from DC Water, Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority, Baltimore City DPW, and Louisville MSD.
