The federal Advisory Committee on Water Information (ACWI) Water Resources and Climate Change Adaptation Workgroup announced a listening session for the public to provide early input on updating priorities for collaborative federal efforts to manage freshwater resources in a changing climate.  The listening session is September 9, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. ET and registration information is available online.

Over a dozen agencies, including EPA, NOAA and the Department of the Interior participate in the ACWI workgroup. In 2011, the workgroup published the National Action Plan: Priorities for Managing Freshwater Resources in a Changing Climate and, in 2014, the workgroup published Next Steps for Managing Freshwater Resources in a Changing Climate.  The actions and recommendations outlined in these documents were developed in response to requirements from Executive Order 13653, Preparing the United States for the Impacts of Climate Change.

AMWA staff plans to participate in the call. Any AMWA member interested in sharing thoughts or comments about how federal agencies should be working to manage water resources in light of climate change is encouraged to send them to Erica Brown by COB September 8, 2015.
