This year marks AMWA’s fifth biannual Utility Financial Information (UFI) survey.  The survey will update the unique UFI database of detailed information from large public drinking water systems regarding rates, revenue sources and expense categories, as well as trends over time in these parameters.  The availability of relevant comparative data from peer water utilities helps managers better understand cost drivers, identify different alternatives for funding these costs, and provide analogous information for presentations that put financial needs into context.

The 2016 survey is scheduled for launch shortly after Labor Day and will be concluded the week before Thanksgiving.  Members that have completed the survey in past years will receive a survey form prepopulated with their most recent responses.  They will only need to update information that has changed.

AMWA’s survey contractor, Raftelis Financial Consultants, will compile the results, conduct QA/QC and analyze the data. The database and general analyses will be available to members in January 2017, and a webinar covering the results and practical uses for the data will be scheduled for February.

Information on the UFI program is online at www.amwa.net/UFI.
