AMWA and eleven other water utility and environmental organizations wrote to members of the House-Senate farm bill conference committee in late October in support of several provisions related to nutrient management and water quality goals.

The organizations, writing under the banner of the Healthy Waters Coalition, wrote in support of a proposed Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) that would maintain the ability of farmers to partner with local water systems on cooperative projects to benefit water quality. The groups also requested support for several other provisions in the Senate-approved farm bill, such as specifically recognizing nutrient management activities as eligible for conservation funding, and explicitly stating that municipal water and wastewater entities are eligible partners.

A copy of the letter is available online. Congress is aiming to approve a final farm bill before the end of the year
