Since 2013, AMWA has engaged with NOAA and other water organizations on the development of a dashboard of weather and climate data that would be useful in decision-making for water resources planning.  The dashboard is expected to be released in early spring. Although comments were already submitted to NOAA, as the dashboard will continually be updated based on user feedback, members are welcome to review the development site for content and usability.

To review the latest version of the dashboard, visit the development siteUse crtdev1 as both the username and the password. AMWA members with feedback on the dashboard are asked to send their comments to Erica Brown, who will forward them to NOAA.

Some questions to consider when reviewing the dashboard are listed below.

  1. What is your overall impression of the dashboard?
  2. Will this site be a useful tool in your decision-making processes?
  3. Are there missing data sets that should be added?
  4. Does having the data sets in alphabetic order according to data type (Forecasts & Outlooks, Observations, People & Assets) work best?
  5. Is the descriptor text beneath each thumbnail picture understandable to potential users (both novice and experienced users) of this dashboard?
  6. What do you think are the top three most useful / valuable data sets on this page?  (The developer plans to use this information to pre-populate a list on the right hand side of the dashboard webpage with most-used data sets.  After the initial release, this list will change according to usage of data sets.)
