Water and wastewater utilities have been pursuing increased resilience to climate change for years. Meanwhile, federal agencies continue to develop and implement policies that can affect how communities address climate adaptation. Following discussions with U.S. EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, senior agency staff and association members, AMWA and the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) are convening the Water Resilience Summit on April 9-10 in Washington, D.C. as part of Water Week 2014.

The Summit will bring together a limited number of utility general managers and senior federal agency staff from EPA and other relevant agencies to explore the legal, economic and practical challenges to achieving utility climate change resilience. The summit will also explore possible solutions to these challenges. AMWA and NACWA will release a report on the Summit after the event.
