Despite record-breaking heat during the month of June, the California State Water Resources Control Board announced that the state’s urban water suppliers exceeded the governor’s 25 percent conservation mandate by reducing water use state-wide by 27.3 percent, when compared with water use in June 2013. June was the first month that the emergency conservation regulation was in effect, and the accomplishment put California on solid footing to achieve the overall goal of 1.2 million acre-feet saved by February 2016.

Water suppliers also reported on compliance and enforcement made to identify wasteful practices.  And the state launched a new website, SaveWater.CA.gov, that enables citizens to anonymously report water waste witnessed at an address that is prohibited by the state emergency conservation regulation. The web app routes the report to the water authority affiliated with the address where the reported water waste occurred.
