Mike Boots, acting chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), announced he will leave his position in March. Boots, previously the chief of staff for former CEQ Chair Nancy Sutley, stepped into the top slot last year after Sutley’s departure. His exit date will be soon after the departure of John Podesta, counselor to the President on energy issues and climate change policy.

The White House has not yet nominated a replacement or announced an acting chair, although Greenwire reports that Christy Goldfuss, deputy director of congressional and external relations at the National Park Service, will be named as a senior advisor and will likely step into the acting chair position following Boots’ departure.
