The Climate Resilience Toolkit is an online resource providing data, information and tools for decision makers, planners and policy leaders at all levels of government and across several non-government sectors to manage their climate-related risks and opportunities.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is tasked with hosting the site and leading its development, in collaboration with all of the agencies of the U.S. Global Change Research Program.  Since its launch in November 2014, the site has nearly doubled its contents by adding case studies and new topics of interest (including water resources, coastal flood risk and energy supply and use).

New tools on the site can be filtered by topic of interest or functionality, such as scenario development and climate projections.  The site houses several case studies and videos that highlight water, wastewater and stormwater management challenges in light of climate change, including vignettes from Denver Water, Tampa Bay Water and the city of Ann Arbor (with a focus on stormwater management).

The Toolkit also includes the Climate Explorer tool, a visualization tool using base map layers from the Environmental Systems Research Institute. There are also links describing funding opportunities for building climate resilience.  NOAA staff is working to more directly meet the needs of those in water resources via the Explorer tool, in part by considering the results of a 2014 survey on climate data needs that was reviewed by AMWA’s Sustainability Committee.
