Shortly after the recent Paris terrorist attacks, officials announced that the 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties at the 2015 UN Conference on Climate Change (COP-21) would proceed as scheduled from November 30-December 11. However, in light of the attacks, security measures have been stepped up. For example, France has reinstated border controls and increased police presence. And to avoid any additional risks, the French government announced on November 18 that it would not allow the climate marches planned around France on November 29 or December 12 to proceed.  Environmental groups had hoped that the marches would mobilize more than 200,000 people.

Over 40,000 people are expected in Paris, either as delegates for COP-21 or as participants in side events sponsored by the United Nations, governments, NGOs and other organizations. President Obama will be in attendance as well as 137 other heads of government and state.
