The Department of Homeland Security has published two guides to support cybersecurity in the dams sector - materials that could also be useful to drinking water and wastewater systems.  This month, DHS produced the Dams Sector Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model (C2M2), which is meant to help to help dam owners and operators evaluate, prioritize and improve their cybersecurity capabilities. C2M2 offers a model of a robust program for cybersecurity and risk management. Published in April 2016, DHS’s Dams Sector Cybersecurity Program Guidance is intended to help dam owners and operators develop or improve basic cybersecurity programs, particularly programs to secure industrial control systems.  Developed with and for the dams sector, the guidance can enable owners and operators to select cybersecurity activities and measures appropriate to their cyber assets and risk profiles.
