A November 17 Federal Register notice announced EPA’s finalization of the fourth Contaminant Candidate List (CCL4). The final list, comprising contaminants not currently subject to existing or proposed national primary drinking water regulations, includes 97 chemicals or chemical groups and 12 microbial contaminants. Working from CCL4, EPA will prioritize additional monitoring, research and analysis for making determinations on whether to regulate at least five of the listed contaminants as required under the Safe Drinking Water Act.
