EPA announced a day-long public meeting for Tuesday, July 16 in Cincinnati, OH to discuss the development of the upcoming Fifth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 5). The meeting, held by EPA’s Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, Standards and Risk Management Division’s Technical Support Center, will be to discuss issues including “the impacts of the America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018; analytical methods and analytes the Agency is considering, including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS); sampling design; minimum reporting levels; and other possible requirements.” UCMR 5 is projected to be proposed by June 2020 and finalized by December 2021. The sampling period will run from 2022-2026.

The agenda for the meeting will include time for public statements and open discussion.  Those wishing to attend either in person or online must register by Thursday, July 11. Those wishing to give public statements at the meeting must sign up to do so at the time they register. Those wishing to provide comment after the public meeting can submit their statements to [email protected]. Space for both the meeting and webinar are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
