EPA has launched its new Compliance Monitoring Data Portal (CMDP), allowing electronic reporting of drinking water compliance data from laboratories and drinking water utilities straight to primacy agencies. Intended to modernize and streamline the reporting process, the CMDP is expected to increase the accuracy, efficiency and usability of the vast quantities of drinking water data submitted to primacy agencies. For the longer term, the CMDP one of the first tangible pieces that will feed into EPA’s overhaul of the Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS). The revised SDWIS platform, also know as “SDWIS Prime,” is currently projected to be completed in 2018.
