EPA is offering training on a series of topics intended to familiarize utility personnel with strategies and tools for preventing, preparing for and responding to incidents. Iterations of the webinars and classes listed below will be offered from now through the spring.

Water Contaminant Information Tool (WCIT) Training – From February until June, virtual training will be held on WCIT. Attendees will learn what WCIT is, who can use WCIT and how WCIT can be used to prepare for and respond to water contamination incidents. The training will be delivered via teleconference, and participants will drive their own computers while receiving navigation instructions from the host. Therefore, an active WCIT account is a prerequisite for this training. WaterISAC Pro members have access to WCIT via the WaterISAC portal. Register for the training at EPA.

Water Laboratory Alliance Tabletop Exercise Webcasts – From February until April, a series of free tabletop exercise webcasts will be offered that examine the coordination of laboratory services in response to a drinking water contamination incident. The scenario-based exercise provides participants with the opportunity to answer questions based on their real-life experiences and knowledge of emergency response practices and procedures contained in the Water Laboratory Alliance Response Plan. Register at EPA.

VSAT and WHEAT Classroom Training – From February to June, classroom training on two key water sector risk assessment tools, the Vulnerability Self Assessment Tool (VSAT) and the Water Health and Economic Analysis Tool (WHEAT), will be held in various locations throughout the country. Water and wastewater utility staff, technical assistance providers and state, local, tribal and territorial officials who support water sector risk assessments are encouraged to attend. The latest versions of VSAT and WHEAT are available via the WaterISAC portal and EPA. Register at EPA.
