Green infrastructure can help improve climate resiliency by helping communities manage flood risk and improve coastal resilience, build drought resilience, reduce the urban heat island effect, reduce building energy demands, and reduce energy needs for water management. Last month, EPA released a set of case studies detailing the results from intensive planning sessions for how four cities considered green infrastructure practices to address some of their climate resilience challenges.

For each of the four cities – Albuquerque, Los Angeles, New Orleans and Grand Rapids – key findings of the green infrastructure planning sessions and identification of next steps for the community are identified. The report, Green Infrastructure and Climate Change: Collaborating to Improve Community Resiliency, is available online.
