On February 4, EPA published a draft of its fourth drinking water Contaminant Candidate List 4 (CCL4). The list identifies 100 chemicals or chemical groups and 12 microbial contaminants that are known or anticipated to occur in public water systems.

The vast majority of contaminants on the draft CCL4 are carried over from previous CCLs, with only two new contaminants added to the list - manganese and nonylphenol. Chemicals for which regulatory determinations have been made have been removed from the list. (Removal of chemicals from the third regulatory determination is pending publication of final determinations.)

EPA is accepting comments on the draft CCL4 through April 6 and publication of the final CCL4 is anticipated for late 2015. Further information on CCL4 and how it fits into the broader EPA regulatory development process under the SDWA is available on EPA's CCL4 website.
