Three new tools released by EPA seek to assist communities as they deal with harmful algal blooms and potential associated drinking water health risks from cyanotoxin exposure. Posted to EPA’s Cyanotoxins in Drinking Water webpage, the tools include example management plans and plan template, a water treatment optimization document and a risk communication toolbox. These materials are part of continuing efforts to address nutrient pollution, algal toxins and associated drinking water hazards as outlined in EPA’s 2015 Algal Toxin Risk Assessment and Management Strategic Plan for Drinking Water.
