Building on its “Moving Toward Sustainability” report published earlier this year, EPA has announced a series of four webinars to highlight utility programs to implement proven and progressive practices that:

  • save money by optimizing the planning and delivery of services to their customers;
  • ensure a reliable source of water consistent with customer needs;
  • use energy and water-efficient practices and technologies that foster water reuse, resource recovery and green infrastructure;
  • become more resilient to short-term disasters and other longer-term climate related challenges; and
  • build greater understanding and support from decision-making bodies, customers and other community stakeholders.

The first webinar will be conducted October 30 from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m., Eastern and will feature Jim Horne of EPA discussing “Sustainable and Effective Practices for Creating Your Water Utility Roadmap,” followed by Palm Bay Florida City Manager Sue Hann and Andy Kricun of Camden County Municipal Utility Authority speaking on “Community Sustainability.”

Subsequent webinars will be held in March, May and June 2015 and will cover the topics of financial sustainability, utility business planning, water resource adequacy, performance management and continual improvement, employee and leadership development, and operation resiliency.
