Revised human health benchmarks for pesticides (HHBPs) have been published by EPA to assist water systems, primacy agencies and the public in interpreting monitoring data related to pesticides that may be present drinking water. The benchmarks represent the levels of certain pesticides below which no adverse health effects are expected for different exposure scenarios. The new benchmarks update values first published by the agency in 2012 based on the latest scientific evaluation of hundreds of HHBPs for which there are no current drinking water standards or health advisories. Additional information on the benchmarks, including a fact sheet and technical background document, is available at EPA’s Human Health Benchmarks for Pesticides in Drinking Water webpage.
