On Thursday, May 12, 2016, from 2-3 p.m. ET, EPA and USGS will host a webinar to present the content, purpose and scope of a Draft Technical Report: Protecting Aquatic Life from Effects of Hydrologic Alteration. The report describes the relationship between hydrologic condition and water quality, and gives examples of what states have done to address flow concerns using current Clean Water Act authorities.  Registration is not required; participants may go directly to https://epawebconferencing.acms.com/epa-usgs/ on May 12 to join the webinar.

AMWA is developing comments about the draft report in conjunction with the association’s Sustainability and Regulatory committees.  The draft comment letter raises many concerns about the draft EPA-USGS Technical Report. AMWA’s primary concern is that the report reads as a policy guidance document, rather than as a technical document. Any member is welcome to review the draft comment letter and provide additional comments to Erica Brown by June 6. Comments to EPA are due June 17.
