The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has released an interactive map with the locations of industrial sites suspected of discharging per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). EWG used data from EPA’s Chemical Data Reporting Rule database and Enforcement and Compliance History Online, as well as a survey by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. The map identifies 475 suspected PFAS discharge sites and categorizes them by industry type including carpet/rug manufacturers, tanneries, and wire manufacturing. For each specific site, the map only gives a general location, facility name, and the particular type of industrial production that occurs there.
