EPA will host a webinar Wednesday, July 24 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. ET to provide a general overview and a step-by-step tutorial on the Cyanobacteria Assessment Network Mobile Application, or CyAN App. Those interested may register online.

The Cyanobacteria Assessment Network (CyAN) is a joint project between EPA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the United States Geological Survey (USGS). CyAN was started in 2015 to develop an early warning system using historical and current satellite data to detect algal blooms in U.S. freshwater systems. The free mobile app is meant to help state and local water quality managers make better informed decisions for managing cyanobacterial blooms.
