May 27 webinar by Lead Service Line Replacement Collaborative to feature two AMWA members
The Lead Service Line Replacement Collaborative is holding a webinar this Wednesday, May 27, titled Encouraging Customer-Initiated LSL Replacement: Two Case Studies. AMWA members DC Water and Boston Water & Sewer Commission will discuss their customer-initiated lead service line replacement programs.
John Deignan, with DC Water, will present the utility’s decade of experience with customer-initiated LSL replacement with the customer paying for replacement on private property. In 2017-18, the program had more than 300 replacements annually up from less than 50 in the first five years of operation.
James Steinkrauss, with the Boston Water & Sewer Commission, will share his utility’s experience encouraging customers to participate in a voluntary program to replace the LSL on private property and the impact of a $2,000 grant the utility offers to customers. Since 2016, the utility has replaced roughly 1,100 private LSLs.
The webinar will be held from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET. Registration is available online.
