March 15-21, 2015 has been designated Flood Safety Awareness Week by the National Weather Service (NWS). The NWS flood safety website provides several quick links to flood preparedness information, including a clickable map all 50 states linking to characteristics of typical flooding events in each state. More than half the states are planning events that recognize the need for flood safety outreach initiatives. Other quick links include river and weather forecasts and observations, and information about hazardous weather outlook forecasts and quantitative precipitation forecasts.
