Last week, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) released a revamped version of its Climate Data Online (CDO) system. Version 3.0 of the CDO system features updates to the user interface, enhanced visuals and access to 11 new datasets and associated outputs. Data accessible through the CDO system includes “quality controlled daily, monthly, seasonal, and yearly measurements of temperature and precipitation as well as radar data and 30-year Climate Normals.” Data is available for more than 2,400 major cities and metropolitan areas in both the U.S. and abroad and can be used to support a wide variety of assessment and planning activities.
