The organization Healthcare Ready in November released an analysis of post-disaster private sector access needs, programs and limitations. Just as water and wastewater utilities have trouble accessing disaster areas, so do healthcare services.  The report, titled Access Denied, examines the challenges and impacts related to disrupted access; analyzes current programs and solutions being used across the country to address this problem; presents recommendations informed by best practices from current programs; and provides technical resources for both public and private stakeholders. Though centered on the needs of healthcare providers, many of the findings and recommendations of the report are applicable to the needs of water and wastewater utilities.
