In its recently released Security Annual Threat Report, Dell reports it observed a doubling of the number of attacks against SCADA systems in 2014 as compared to 2013. Dell notes that many SCADA attacks go unreported, which translates to other companies not knowing a threat exists until they are targeted themselves. To address this and other threats, Dell recommends a series of elements for a defense-in-depth program. These elements include continuous security awareness training for employees, investment in a capable intrusion prevention system and consistent software updates, among others.
