The National Academy of Sciences and the Royal Academy (the United Kingdom’s national science academy) released Climate Change – Evidence & Causes. The publication is a “plain English” primer that includes an eight-page section on the basics of climate change and a list of 20 common questions on the topic. Examples include: “Climate is always changing, why is climate change of concern now?” and “What are scientists doing to address key uncertainties in our understanding of the climate system?”

The document summarizes and builds upon research by the two national academies as well as the latest assessment from the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The publication also aims to differentiate between well-established science on climate change and areas where understanding is still developing. A list of references to consult for additional information is also included.
